# Analytics overview

Analytics shows what happens after you share a link: how many people opened it, how far they read, where they stopped watching, and where they came from. You see totals and patterns, never who someone is.

Open **Analytics** in the sidebar, or go to [markdrop.in/dashboard/analytics](https://markdrop.in/dashboard/analytics). You need to be signed in, and you see analytics only for things you own.

## The home board

The home board covers everything you've published.

| Tile | What it counts |
| --- | --- |
| **Views** | Times your links were opened, across all of them. |
| **People** | Distinct visitors. |
| **Watch time** | Time spent playing your videos and audio. |
| **Read to the end** | Share of reading sessions on documents and PDFs that reached the end. |

Below the tiles:

- **Your links** lists each link with its views, a trend line, how engaged people were, and the last view. A green dot means someone is on it now.
- **Worth a look** points out things that stand out, like where people stop watching. Insights appear once your links have about 20 visits.

Choose the period with the range picker: **7 days**, **30 days** (the default), **90 days** or **All time**. Each number is compared with the period of the same length right before it, like "+12% vs previous 30 days". Days run in UTC.

Choose **CSV** to download the numbers for the period.

## One link in detail

Choose a link in **Your links** to open its own page. You can also open the menu on any item you own and choose **Analytics**.

The tabs depend on what the link is:

| Kind | Tabs |
| --- | --- |
| Document | **Overview**, **Content**, **Audience** |
| PDF | **Overview**, **Pages**, **Audience** |
| Video | **Overview**, **Video**, **Audience** |
| Audio | **Overview**, **Listening**, **Audience** |
| Other files | **Overview**, **Audience** |

Files you've replaced with a new version also get a **Versions** tab that compares them.

- **Overview** has the headline numbers for that kind, **Views per day**, **Where views come from**, and **What stands out**.
- **Audience** shows **New and returning** visitors, **Devices**, **Countries**, **Channels**, **Share signals** (times an app showed a preview of your link) and **Campaigns**.

The other tabs are covered in [Documents and PDFs](https://docs.markdrop.in/analytics/documents-and-pdfs) and [Video and audio](https://docs.markdrop.in/analytics/video-and-audio).

## Watch it once

## Ask your AI assistant

If you've connected an AI assistant to Markdrop, it can read these numbers too, for example: "Where do readers drop off in my getting-started guide? Rewrite that section." See [AI tools](https://docs.markdrop.in/ai/tools).
