# Preview items

`POST https://api.markdrop.in/api/v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/items/previews`

What the Cards view shows of each item, for up to 12 items at a time. Each answers `locked` unless you can open it right now, `encrypted` for an end-to-end encrypted document, and `pending` while a picture is being made (ask again). Otherwise `ok` with plain-text `blocks` (pages, documents, HTML and Word files), a sheet's first `rows`, a text file's first `lines`, or `src`, a small WebP thumbnail as a data URI (images, a PDF's first page, a video's poster, a page's cover). An HTML file also has `live`, its signed address on the files origin. Any member.

- **Authentication:** API token required: `Authorization: Bearer mdk_…`.

## Path parameters

- `workspace_id` (string, required): The workspace's id, from the address of its settings page (`markdrop.in/settings/workspaces/<workspace-id>`) or from [List workspaces](https://docs.markdrop.in/api/workspaces/list-workspaces).

## Request body

`application/json`, required.

- `slugs` (array of string, required): 1–12 items.

## Responses

- `200`: OK.
- `401`: No token, or the token is revoked or mistyped.
- `422`: The request didn't validate. `detail` lists each problem, with where it is (`loc`) and why (`msg`).
- `429`: Too many requests from your IP address. Wait the seconds in `Retry-After`.
