# Set a folder's properties

`PUT https://api.markdrop.in/api/v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/folders/{folder_id}/properties`

Replaces a folder's properties, and optionally its views. Members and admins. Pages' values never change: a property you leave out keeps its values, hidden.

- **Authentication:** API token required: `Authorization: Bearer mdk_…`.
- **Rate limit:** 60 per minute per IP address.
- **MCP tool:** `set_folder_properties` ([tools](https://docs.markdrop.in/ai/tools))
- **Guide:** [Properties and views](https://docs.markdrop.in/pages/properties-and-views)

## Path parameters

- `workspace_id` (string, required): The workspace's id, from the address of its settings page (`markdrop.in/settings/workspaces/<workspace-id>`) or from [List workspaces](https://docs.markdrop.in/api/workspaces/list-workspaces).
- `folder_id` (string, required): The folder's id, from [List folders](https://docs.markdrop.in/api/folders/list-folders).

## Request body

`application/json`, required.

- `properties` (array of object, required): The whole schema: up to 30 properties, each `{name, type, options?}` (`key` optional; made from the name). Types: `select`, `multi_select`, `person`, `date`, `text`, `link`, `number` and `checkbox`. Up to 30 items.
- `views` (array of object): Also replace the saved views. Up to 20 items.
- `base_rev` (integer): The `rev` you read. If someone changed the schema since, the answer is `409` instead of overwriting it.

## Responses

- `200`: OK.
- `401`: No token, or the token is revoked or mistyped.
- `409`: Someone changed the properties since your `base_rev`.
- `422`: The request didn't validate. `detail` lists each problem, with where it is (`loc`) and why (`msg`).
- `429`: Too many requests from your IP address. Wait the seconds in `Retry-After`.
