# Create a workspace

`POST https://api.markdrop.in/api/v1/workspaces`

Creates a workspace with you as its owner.

- **Authentication:** API token required: `Authorization: Bearer mdk_…`.
- **Rate limit:** 10 per minute per IP address.

## Request body

`application/json`, required.

- `name` (string, required): 1–80 characters.

## Responses

- `201`: Created.
  - `id` (string)
  - `name` (string)
  - `owner_id` (string)
  - `created_at` (string (date-time)): ISO 8601, for example `2026-11-30T12:00:00Z`.
  - `updated_at` (string (date-time)): ISO 8601, for example `2026-11-30T12:00:00Z`.
  - `branding` (object): Every field optional — an unset workspace looks exactly like Markdrop.
    - `site_name` (string | null): Up to 60 characters.
    - `favicon_url` (string | null): Up to 500 characters.
    - `logo_url` (string | null): Up to 500 characters.
    - `accent_color` (string | null): Matches `^#(?:[0-9a-fA-F]{3}|[0-9a-fA-F]{6})$`.
    - `hide_markdrop_branding` (boolean): Default `false`.
    - `logo_well` ("light" | "dark" | "checker" | null)
  - `settings` (object)
    - `viewer_chrome` ("full" | "minimal" | "none"): Default `"full"`.
    - `require_auth_to_view` (boolean): Default `false`.
    - `members_can_share_folders` (boolean): Default `true`.
    - `default_access` ("link" | "workspace" | "private"): Default `"workspace"`.
  - `role` ("owner" | "admin" | "member" | "viewer")
  - `primary_host` (string | null)
  - `domains` (array of object)
    - `host` (string)
    - `kind` (string | null)
    - `status` (string): Default `"pending"`.

    - `failures` (integer): Default `0`.
  - `default_access` (string): Default `"workspace"`.
  - `privacy` (string): Default `"custom"`.
  - `member_count` (integer): Default `0`.
  - `pending_invite_count` (integer): Default `0`.
  - `domain_count` (integer): Default `0`.
- `401`: No token, or the token is revoked or mistyped.
- `422`: The request didn't validate. `detail` lists each problem, with where it is (`loc`) and why (`msg`).
- `429`: Too many requests from your IP address. Wait the seconds in `Retry-After`.
