# Update a workspace

`PUT https://api.markdrop.in/api/v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}`

Changes a workspace's name, branding or settings. Every field is optional.

- **Authentication:** API token required: `Authorization: Bearer mdk_…`.
- **Rate limit:** 60 per minute per IP address.

## Path parameters

- `workspace_id` (string, required): The workspace's id, from the address of its settings page (`markdrop.in/settings/workspaces/<workspace-id>`) or from [List workspaces](https://docs.markdrop.in/api/workspaces/list-workspaces).

## Request body

`application/json`, required.

- `name` (string): 1–80 characters.
- `branding` (object): Every field optional — an unset workspace looks exactly like Markdrop.
  - `site_name` (string): Up to 60 characters.
  - `favicon_url` (string): Up to 500 characters.
  - `logo_url` (string): Up to 500 characters.
  - `accent_color` (string): Matches `^#(?:[0-9a-fA-F]{3}|[0-9a-fA-F]{6})$`.
  - `hide_markdrop_branding` (boolean): Default `false`.
  - `logo_well` ("light" | "dark" | "checker")
- `settings` (object)
  - `viewer_chrome` ("full" | "minimal" | "none"): Default `"full"`.
  - `require_auth_to_view` (boolean): Default `false`.
  - `members_can_share_folders` (boolean): Default `true`.
  - `default_access` ("link" | "workspace" | "private"): Default `"workspace"`.

    - `site_name` (string | null): Up to 60 characters.

- `401`: No token, or the token is revoked or mistyped.
- `422`: The request didn't validate. `detail` lists each problem, with where it is (`loc`) and why (`msg`).
- `429`: Too many requests from your IP address. Wait the seconds in `Retry-After`.
