Cards show what's inside

The workspace Cards view now previews every item: a page's cover and first blocks, the start of a document, a PDF's first page, images, video posters, a sheet's first cells, and HTML files live when you point at them.

  • Web app
  • MCP server
  • API
  • Pages show their cover, icon, title and first blocks. Markdown documents show their start, with headings, lists, to-dos, quotes and code.
  • HTML files show their opening text. Point at the card for a moment and the real page plays, scaled down, in a sandbox on Markdrop's separate files address. A few play at once, with a mouse only.
  • PDFs show their first page, images themselves, videos their poster frame and length, spreadsheets and CSVs their first cells, text files their first lines and Word documents their first paragraphs.
  • Fast and quiet. Previews load only for the cards on screen, after the folder opens, so folders still open straight away. List and Grid are unchanged.
  • Access first. A card previews only what you could open yourself. End-to-end encrypted documents show a lock, and other items' titles never appear in a preview.
  • AI apps. list_workspace_items takes previews: true and adds each item's opening text.
  • API. POST /api/v1/workspaces/{id}/items/previews returns the previews for up to 12 items.
  • Cards is now the default view for anyone who hasn't picked one; List and Grid are one click away, and your choice is remembered on each device.
