Slack notifications: off until you turn them on, and found by your email

Direct messages in Slack for mentions, sign-off requests, shares and access requests are now something you turn on, in **Settings › Account › Slack notifications**. Markdrop finds you in Slack by your sign-in email, so there's nothing to link first.

  • Web app
  • MCP server
  • API
  • Off by default. Nobody gets Slack messages until they turn on Get notifications in Slack, even with a linked Slack account. Only you can turn on your own. If you linked your Slack account before this change, yours stay on until you turn them off.
  • Found by your email. Turning them on looks you up in each Slack workspace connected to one of your Markdrop workspaces, by your own sign-in email, and shows Found with your Slack name. If no one there uses that email, Link my Slack account (Sign in with Slack) still works.
  • Choose which ones under Message me when: Mentions, Sign-off requests, Shared with you, Access requests. Every message ends with Turn off.
  • The bell offers it (Get these in Slack › Turn on) when a workspace of yours has Slack connected, never at the same time as the push notification offer. Not now hides it on that device.
  • Admins: a workspace connected before this shows Update Markdrop for Slack on its Integrations tab. Update permissions grants the two Slack permissions this needs (users:read, users:read.email) and finds everyone who had already turned notifications on.
  • Email still counts only a Slack message that really reached you.
  • MCP: slack_status reports me.notifications_on and how your account was found. API: GET /api/v1/slack/me and PUT /api/v1/slack/me/notifications.
  • See Slack notifications.
