Switching a workspace to Locked is instant, with progress for big workspaces

Choosing Locked (or switching back to Team or Open) used to freeze the settings page while every item was updated, about a minute and a half for 300 items. Sign-in is now enforced the moment you choose it, and the stored files, page images and cached pages follow in the background, with a progress bar.

  • Web app
  • API
  • Enforced at once. The moment you choose Locked, every item in the workspace asks for sign-in on every address: a link someone already has stops opening it unless they sign in and can open it.
  • The rest follows in the background. Markdrop then locks the stored files (so direct links to a file or a video stop working too), the images on pages and the copies of pages kept for speed, several at a time. A small workspace is done before the switch finishes; a big one shows Applying to 300 items… in Privacy (and under the switch in Advanced) and counts down. The page stays usable, you can leave it, and it carries on even if Markdrop restarts.
  • Changing your mind is fine. Switch back to Team or Open while it's applying and Markdrop applies whichever you chose last.
  • API. GET and PUT /api/v1/workspaces/{id} return access_sync (state, pending, total, want) while a change is applying. See Workspace privacy.
