Fewer notification emails: choose how often, and the app comes first

Mentions and sign-off requests no longer flood your inbox. Choose Instant, Hourly bundle, Daily digest or Off for each in Settings › Account › Email (mentions now come as an hourly bundle by default). Nothing is emailed that you already saw in the app or got as a push, at most 3 of these emails a day, and every one has an Email me less link.

  • Choose how often, separately for Mentions and Sign-off requests: Instant, Hourly bundle ("You were mentioned in 4 pages", each page with who and the line), Daily digest (8:00 your time) or Off. Mentions default to the hourly bundle, sign-off requests to Instant. If you'd turned mention emails off, both start as Off.
  • The app comes first: no email about something you read in the app, saw on the bell while Markdrop was open, or got as a push notification or Slack message. If you've used Markdrop in the last half hour, an instant email waits up to 30 minutes (10 for a sign-off request) for you to see it there.
  • At most 3 a day, in your time zone. Anything more waits for one catch-up email the next morning; nothing is lost. A sign-off request may be a fourth, once a day.
  • Email me less at the bottom of every one: one step down (Instant → Hourly bundle → Daily digest → Off), no sign-in needed. Turn off these emails still turns them all off.
  • API: PATCH /api/v1/me/preferences takes email_notify (mention, signoff_requested) and tz; /api/v1/auth/me returns email_notify. See Mentions and notifications.
