Workspace templates: use any page as a template

Use a page as a template for your workspace or just for you, with its sub-pages and images. It shows up in New page and Add a sub-page, a folder can start every new page from one, and {{title}}, {{date}}, {{author}} and {{folder}} are filled in.

  • Web app
  • MCP server
  • API
  • ⋯ › Use as template on any page: choose Everyone in your workspace or Just me, a name, a description and an emoji, and whether to include the sub-pages you can open. Images are copied with it.
  • New page and Add a sub-page show your workspace's templates first, then yours, then the built-in ones, each with a preview.
  • A folder's default template: admins choose what New page in a folder starts from, like a PRD template in product-hub/02-prds. Anyone can still pick Blank or another template.
  • Placeholders: {{title}}, {{date}}, {{author}} and {{folder}} become the page's title, the day, the person making it and its folder.
  • Manage templates: rename, edit (a template is a page, in the same editor), delete, and drag to reorder. Admins manage the workspace's templates; members can rename or delete the ones they saved. Editing a template never changes pages already made from it.
  • Templates never show up in lists, search, the sidebar, folder pages or AI apps' document search. Viewers and people outside the workspace never see them.
  • AI apps: list_page_templates (optionally for one workspace) lists them with ids, create_page takes a template's id or slug, set_page_properties with template turns a page into a template and back, and the new save_page_as_template and set_folder_default_template save one and set a folder's default.
